Dog Deodorant

Dog Deodorant Options

If you are having problems with dog odor, you can consider using dog deodorant. It isn’t healthy for any dog to be given a bath more than once every few months. This can remove essential oils that keep the fur shining and healthy. There are many skin conditions that can occur in dogs that are a result of over washing. The dog’s skin can become irritated, itchy and he can also suffer from a certain amount of hair loss. Dog deodorant is a much better option when it comes to removing odors.

There are many different types of dog deodorant and each type works in different ways. For example, many people use a solution called liquid chlorophyll. This is an herbal remedy and it is perfectly safe for the dog. Along with reducing odors, it can also help to improve heart functions and digestion. It has also been used as an herbal remedy by people as a substitute for regular deodorant. This is for people who are allergic to commercial deodorants. It acts like baking soda to neutralize odors. You can also use this solution for a yard that smells like dog waste. It is used by placing a few drops of the solution into the dog’s water. It has a slight mint flavor that is pleasing to dogs. As it moves through the dog’s system, it improves digestion and cleanses the dog’s blood. This greatly reduces odor and it can also reduce odor in bowel movements and urine. You can find this liquid chlorophyll at any health food store. Make sure to follow the instructions for optimal results.

There are also many types of dog deodorant, that you can purchase at most department stores. They come in spray bottles and they all have different ingredients. Some of them contain odor neutralizers, while others offer a masking perfume or oil. They can also be used as a room deodorizer. But you will not want to use these sprays on a daily or even monthly basis because they can strip the dog’s natural oils. They can also contain substances that can be harmful to breathe in, so they should be used in a well ventilated area. If the spray gets into a dog’s eyes, it can cause irritation and watering and the aerosol spray can cause upper respiratory trouble, if it is used consistently. These types of deodorants should be used scarcely and the directions should be followed to the letter, so that the dog is not harmed in any way.

Dog deodorant is great to use between baths and they do mask the dog’s natural odor. But many times dogs can get into certain things that cannot be removed as easily. Things like skunk spray, animal feces and decaying animal smells are almost impossible to remove or mask. When a dog comes in contact with any of these things, you will need a more efficient dog deodorizer.  There are products available at your local pet center but you can make the solution at home for a fraction of the cost. Mix 1 pint of peroxide with a cup of baking soda. Add a tablespoon of ordinary dish washing liquid. Use a wash cloth and soak the areas on the dog that smell the worst. Be careful not to get the solution in the dog’s eyes. Let the solution soak in for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse. Give the dog an ordinary bath with shampoo. You should only use this type of dog deodorant in extreme cases because it can dry out the dog’s skin if it is used too often.
